Jon-Mark Hurley

Actor / Producer / Musician

About

Jon-Mark Hurley is a performer, pianist, and storyteller whose work blends sharp wit with heartfelt honesty. Growing up on sitcom punchlines and the melodies of classical music and musical theatre, he learned early that laughter and music could transform even the toughest moments into joy. Born to a Santa Cruz surfer and a Bay Area beautician, Jon-Mark popped out vibin’—and in pursuit of great hair. Whether seated behind the piano, diving deep into character work, or belting in musical theatre, he creates spaces where humor and humanity meet.

On screen, his credits include Jane the Virgin (CW), I (Almost) Got Away With It (Discovery ID), and the title role of composer Franz Schubert in Bernard Rose’s (Candyman, Immortal Beloved) The Hurdy Gurdy Man, created exclusively for Vero True Social. A project he also collaborated on with writer Matthew Jacobs of the famed British Television series Doctor Who.

During the pandemic, Jon-Mark created and starred in the award-winning web series The Germaphobe’s Guide, which garnered multiple Davey Awards and led to his 2023 invitation to join the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA) from the organization's president Lauren Angeloni.

As a classically trained musician with a Master of Music from Belmont University and a B.A. in Piano Performance from Santa Clara University, Jon-Mark effortlessly integrates music into his storytelling. He has served as music director for regional theatre productions throughout Northern California and as pianist in numerous pit orchestras.

His stage credits span classic musicals—Guys & Dolls, Seussical, A Chorus Line, Kiss Me Kate, and Gypsy—as well as dramatic works including Jacques Brel Is Alive & Well and Living in Paris and Glorious! The Francis Foster Jenkins Story written by Peter Quilter. Critics have praised his turn as Nicely-Nicely Johnson in Guys & Dolls, as “reminiscent of Matthew Broderick or Nathan Lane on Broadway,” and Anne Bennett hailing his rendition of “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat” as “one of the show’s highlights.”

Equally at home in front of the camera or behind the piano, Jon-Mark brings a rare combination of musical virtuosity, comedic timing, and emotional truth to every role. He continues to expand his creative footprint from Los Angeles, where he is committed to telling stories that resonate with humor, heart, and harmony.
